Sean Ryan

Seán Ryan (b.1943) is an Irish Labour Party politician. He is a Teachta Dála (TD) for Dublin North and is currently the Labour Party Spokesperson on Older People's Issues.

Seán Ryan was born at Dublin and educated at North Strand Vocational School, College of Technology, Bolton Street, College of Industrial Relations, School of Management, Rathmines. Ryan was formerly Production Controller and Work Study Supervisor with CIÉ and Iarnrod Éireann before entering into full-time politics. In 1983 he was elected to Dublin County Council. Ryan was first elected to Dáil Éireann in 1989, serving until 1997 when he lost his seat. He was subsequently elected to Seanad Éireann, but was re-elected to the Dáil in a by-election in 1998. He is currently the Labour Party Spokesperson on Older People's Issues.
